Department of Information Sciences

About This Department

Students in this department focus primarily on the key principles of computing mechanisms and operating systems, and on the fundamental theories and core technologies of software, such as algorithms and software design. They are also given broad exposure to the latest technologies and applications in areas such as Internet/web technologies, encryption and security, parallel distributed architecture, and intelligent systems. This allows them not simply to acquire expertise in information science, but also to develop conceptual and analytical strategies and the capacity to apply information science approaches throughout wider society.
